Bring me all the bagles and donuts in the land. It is going to be an unbearable day.

"He found the whole thing rather asinine, not knowing why a person would wait until they'd imbibed far too much liquor to be rational before contacting someone they'd lost, not grasping why they would try to reclaim something that was never meant to be."

Okay: 2 are sunglasses, and I am wearing a pair, and there are 3 more pairs in the bag. Not quite 14 but still far too many.

"Childhood memories, [she] thinks, are often very hideous, and have strange sequins and bobble-eyes glued on in unfortunate places."
"Well over three and a half centuries ago, driven by faith and bound by a common desire for liberty, a small band of pilgrims sought out a place in the New World where they could worship according to their own beliefs... and solve crimes. By day, they churn butter and worship according to their own beliefs and by night, they solve crimes. Pilgrim detectives."
I think you’re laughing on the inside.

She thinks she's gone insane.
Well, at least she's had the good sense to recognise it and not go about with her socks on her ears.

"I suppose you think I've been just lying here all these weeks in a state of paralyzed sloth. Well, I have, but bubbling beneath the surface and rising slowly through the layers of indifference has come a new system: harden up, reject romanticism, abandon rhetoric… get it right."

"The whole point about irrational behavior is that it is irrational. I don't worry about anything I just worry."

I can totally see the giraffe but I also question the llama.

On top of everything else, I dropped a book on the top of my foot and shoes are uncomfortable and I can not cross my ankles without pain.
My hands are locked up tight in fists
My mind is racing, filled with lists
of things to do and things I've done
Another sleepless night's begun
Who needs sleep?
well you're never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what's that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you're getting
There's a guy who's been awake
since the Second World War
There's so much joy in life,
so many pleasures all around
But the pleasure of insomnia
is one I've never found
With all life has to offer,
there's so much to be enjoyed
But the pleasures of insomnia
are ones I can't avoid

All I want to do is go to sleep. I've kept myself awake since 5:15, the time I first contemplated going to bed. Sweet dreams.

Police have issued the following advice: If you do come face to face with a mountain lion, experts say you should not run, try to appear as big as possible and make a lot of noise.

Clarification: my hair is dry (i.e. not WET) as I had time dry my hair with the hair dryer instead of rushing out the door with wet hair. My hair is not in need of conditioning or some sort of hot oil treatment.
This morning was the first time in months that I woke up prior to my alarm sounding, and I had a whole nights sleep (or what amounts to a whole nights sleep for a law student who works full time), and I was shanghaied for only a few moments (enough for a pleasant distraction - not so much that it was an impediment to motivation), and I have dry hair for the first time this semester. This is going to be a GREAT day.

Shockingly offensive quote of the day:
Supervisor to student intern (about a folder): "Is it too faggy? It's OK if you don't want it."

"Every goddamn morning I wake up... and it takes me long minutes to remember that this is real. That this isn't just an impossible terrible dream."

Conversations at work:
Q: Do you watch the show The Apprentice?
A: Shakes head.
Q: That's good. It's a show that is on too late for you to be watching. It is on at 9:00 and you should be in bed. It has Donald Trump in it. Do you know who Donald Trump is?
A: Shakes head.
Q: He is a real estate mogul.
A: Shakes head.
This morning I ate the most chocolately muffin I have ever had in my life. Each bite left my fingers and mouth covered with warm, gooey bittersweet chocolate. Sooooooooo good!
OK so it is not as healthy as my classic "Breakfast of Champions" breakfast (a corn muffin and a cherry Coke) but was mighty nice at the end of what has been a long and dreary week with the lack of sleep, election results, the ongoing GDFN that I believe will never, ever end. Ever.

Headline of the day:
Official: Arafat in Coma
Arafat Congratulates Bush
How exactly is that possible?

Well, in class again, and not entirely focused on today’s lecture. Spent the hour re-reading posts from the past few months. I am surprised that I can remember almost ALL of what these cryptic entries really stand for – if anything at all. I think I needn’t be so cryptic. A reader from the North will likely agree and comment on my paranoia and how it keeps me from writing more detailed posts. I prefer to think of this situation as a game I play to challenge and develop my feeble memory.
